Strathearn Harriers - New Year's Day Run 2014

Inverness Half Marathon

Race Date: 09 March 2025

From Graeme Warren:

Four Harriers made the trip north to the Inverness Half Marathon which again included the Scottish Championships for the distance. In almost perfect conditions, with spring sunshine and light winds, the only obstacles were the hill in the first half and the calibre of the 2,500+ strong field (Jamie Crowe romping home in 1:5:19 for a sprint finish win). Harris Pagett set off with a fast lead group, holding his own for the first few kilometres but ultimately pulling up, feeling the effects of a lingering cold. Selflessly though, he continued, with a few stints pacing club mates before the finish.

Marcus Scotney ran a fantastic 1:14:22 chip time for 50th overall, 1st V50 finisher and Scottish V50 Champion. Graeme Warren was next home (supported by Harris) in a PB of 1:17:42 (81st overall, 15th MV40), with Rhian Evans next in 1:51:21 (953rd, 59th FV40). A great way to start off Spring road running.

Marcus's time of 1:14:22 is the third best half marathon time run by a Harrier, only 1 second behind his best for the Harriers of 1.14.21.

The men's race was won by Jamie Crowe of Central AC in 1.5.19, 1s ahead of Sean Chalmers of Aberdeen AAC. The women's race was won by Nancy Scott of Edinburgh AC in 1.13.20
