Strathearn Harriers - New Year's Day Run 2014

Bridge of Orchy 10k

Race Date: 02 November 2025

The Bridge of Orchy 10k (BOO!) is a relatively new race with a demanding route, beginning at the bridge beside the Bridge of Orchy Hotel with a tough 2k climb north-west up the West Highland Way path offering outstanding views of Loch Tulla, before the quick descent to the road section beginning at the Inveroran Hotel. There are great views of the Black Mount Estate coming into the turning point at Victoria car park. The return to Bridge of Orchy, with Loch Tulla on the left, gives views of the familiar Bridge of Orchy Munros Beinn Achaladair, Beinn an Dothaidh and Beinn Dorain.

Keira Reid chose this as her first race on her return to racing after a few years out, and she sent this report: One of the most welcoming races I've done. Thank you to all the marshals, organisers and the two wonderful sweepers. Maybe just maybe running may be back in my life…

Keira completed this multi-terrain race in 1.33.59. The race was won by Dayton Bath of Shettleston Harriers in 41.51, and the women's race was won by Evelyn Twomey of Linlithgow AC in 45.15, finishing in an impressive second place overall.
