
The Morven hill race is an 8.8km hill race with around 660m of climb, and this year was the last race in this year’s Scottish Hill Running Championship, having been postponed from earlier in the autumn due to bad weather.The race route follows good tracks up and down the hill, and is a quick way of bagging a Corbett.
Many thanks to Hanna McInally for the following race report: It was reasonably good weather with low clouds and rather muddy, but dry and not windy. The female race set off first, then the men’s race, followed by the juniors for the “Mini-Morven”. First over the line was Quinn in 2nd overall but 1st U11 boy, followed by Finlay in 3rd overall and 2nd U11 boy. I came in 6th female followed by Ralph McInally in 11th and Jon Turnbull. in 12th position.
Hanna's time was 1.00.37, to finish in 6th position, with 21 finishers. Ralph's time was 50.41, with Jon finishing in 53.27, as first MV40. There were 75 finishers.
The men's race was won by Matt Knowles of Carnethy AC in a new course record of 43.01, and the women's race was won by Elena Heger, of Shettleston Harriers, who crossed the line first to take the ladies win in 55.08.
