This was the third match of the East District (following Kirkcaldy and Dundee) and was held at Balbardie Park in Bathgate, with women running two loops (5.8 kms) and men running three loops (8.8 kms). As a sign of the club’s growing strength in cross country, 10 Harriers took part - split equally between the men’s and women’s teams.
Our Women’s team came 11th out of 28 on Saturday’s standing, and that means an 8th out of 22 at the East District League’s conclusion. For our club’s size of ‘catchment area’, that’s a fantastic showing. We’ll also have a placing in the Women’s Masters league, but that result is still awaited. Individual results for the Bathgate match, out of 137 finishers, were as follows:
Our Men’s team came 15th out of 33 teams on Saturday, which, considering they carried a one-person penalty for having five instead of six runners, is an impressive achievement (could you have been that sixth person?). Particularly impressive was Harris Pagett’s top ten placing in a very competitive run, and indeed 1st placed U20 finisher! Concluding the league series, that means our men earned 19th place out of 29 - again, a great achievement for our size of club. Saturday’s individual results, out of 239 finishers, were as follows:
Well done to all those who represented the club across the three matches - onwards and upwards through the mud for the cross country season coming around again in the autumn!
