Strathearn Harriers - New Year's Day Run 2014

Eildon Three Hills Race

Race Date: 21 June 2025

For the seventh race in the club championship, seven Harriers headed south for the Eildon Three Hills race, which this year also featured as the East District Championship hill race. The race covers 7.2km, with 510m ascent and traverses the iconic three Eildon Hills with a start and finish in Gibson Park, Melrose.

From women's captain Monica Thomson: A few of us travelled to sunny, hot Melrose to tackle this lovely hill race that was very well organised by Gala Harriers. Pre-race ice creams to cool off after the excitement of watching our fab Juniors helped us cope with the heat. By 2:30pm start time the breeze had picked up and conditions were runnable!

A long ascent and slightly technical descent had Graeme and Calum battling it out for first Harrier home - and a 30 second gap appeared only at the last stretch on approach to the park. Graeme finished in 45:32 and Calum 46:02. Next was Dave D 48:59, Phil in 53:23, Monica T in 1:00:07, Gill 1:09:32 and Iain T in 1:15:00.

We scooped a few prizes too with nice medals & Tempest Brewery Beers! 2nd FV40 for me, 3rd FV40 for Gill (and we also got prizes for these categories in the East District League). Iain was 2nd MV70 (although sadly no prizes for this category), Graeme was 3rd MV40 in the League, and the Masters Team earned 3rd prize for Strathearn Harriers : Graeme, Dave and Phil.
