In warm conditions, eight Harriers took on the classic 43 km long race between the police stations at Braemar and Aviemore, over the high pass (at 835m altitude). Julia Greenlees and Iain Thomson weren't feeling the love, so made the wise decision to drop out before getting too far into the race, but the remaining six made it to the end.
Jonathon Marks was the first Harrier home in an outstanding 3.33.51, in 10th position. This may be the fastest Harriers time in the event. Morris Roberts was next Harrier in a time of 4.11.38, taking 17 minutes off his 2023 time, for 39th position. Thomas Silkstone was next, in 4.14.38 for 43rd position.
First female Harrier was Fran Coles in 5.19.59 in 169th position and 30th female, followed closely by Ali Cunningham in 5.22.54 in 179th position, 36th female and first FV60; one place ahead of Kay Grenfell who finished in 5.23.03, 10th FV40.
The race was won by Kris Jones of Dundee Hawkhill Harriers in a new record time of 2.54.30, and the women's race was won by Emily McNicol of Law and District AC in 3.47.43. There were 266 finishers.
