A popular central Scotland half marathon, the Loch Leven half is a mostly flattish race round Loch Leven, The race has been enhanced in recent years with closed roads, but seems to be suffering from major hatching of flies around the course, making things a touch unpleasant for runners.
From John Myles: A number of Harriers took on the Loch Leven Half this morning in what turned into an eventful day in perfect running conditions of blistering heat.
The early start helped but the heat built quickly and there was very few places to avoid the sunshine, the water stations were doing great business today.
Star runner today went to Lee Smith who blitzed his PB by 6 minutes for an impressive 1:33:40.
Sadly Doug Lawson took a tumble in the last part of the race and required some treatment from the first aid before a trip to the hospital to have himself checked out but even this didn’t stop the warrior finishing the race.
Congratulations to who completed today as that was tough going.
