Thom Harrison made the trip south for the half marathon; part of the Warrington Running Festival. This from Thom: Sunday was a dry and bright day with no rain and very little wind - perfect temperature of c. 11 degrees. A couple of areas were either ankle deep in water or very muddy but the vast majority was on-road and other participants were pretty sensible in avoiding and calling out. A relatively flat course, with only one real lump coming at about a third of the way through (an English rather than Scottish hill, of only 400ft, a drag over around 2 miles). I stuck with the 1:40 pacer until after the hill had been crested (to stop myself getting cooked too early).
The course was busy. Just shy of 3000 started at 9am, with approx 1800 of those on the half with the remainder on 10k. Lots of pushing to get to the front meant overtaking all the way, and the beginning of the course was slightly more restricted with narrower roads and off-road paths than later on.
