The 7Rs trail half marathon is a super-friendly half marathon which winds its way round seven reservoirs in the Pentland Hills, south of Edinburgh. It covers mixed terrain, with tarmac, gravel and mud (and in other years, snow and ice). Organised by Harmeny Pentland Runners, the race is supported by Youth Vision, who provide very welcome warming soup for finishers.
From the race director:
Thank you so much everyone for making 7Rs 2025 one to remember. Awesome running, awesome volunteering, awesome sponsors, awesome soup!
Weather conditions were pretty well ideal for December in Scotland and there was some good running with some excellent times. We had an excellent turnout of 113 finishers and no withdrawals so a successful day all round.
The race this year was a close contest which was won by Florent Weillaert of Hunters Bog Trotters in a time of 1.22.05, with Robert Simpson of Edinburgh AC only 40 seconds behind. First female was Claire Jellema of West Edinburgh RC in a time of 01:43:58.
Fiona Paterson was the sole Harrier this year, finishing in a very respectable time of 2.08.21, in 73rd position overall.
