The Harter Fell Class is the mid-entry course in the Saunders Lakeland Mountain Marathon. It is a tough two-day mountain run for pairs, combining long climbs, rough terrain and basic navigation. The published course profile suggests about 31 km total with around 2,550m ascent over the two days.
Tony and Clare McClelland tackled this mountain marathon challenge for the umpteenth time. As Clare describes after day two: Still damp and hilly, but we made it!. They finished in an aggregate time of 9:57:55 for 94th place out of 109 finishing teams, but with 17 DNF teams showing what a challenge this is.
