Strathearn Harriers - New Year's Day Run 2014

Celtman Extreme Triathlon

Race Date: 13 June 2026

The Celtman triathlon is a true beast of an event, featuring a 3.4 km cold-water swim in Loch Shieldaig battling the jellyfish, a 200 km bike ride with 2,200m of climbing including the iconic Bealach Na Ba, and a 42 km marathon run among the Torridon mountains. The run usually features an ascent of the two Munros of Beinn Eighe, but harsh weather conditions meant the runners were rerouted onto the low-level route, which is still a demanding outing.

We had two club members taking part: Jon Turnbull, who finished in 21st position in a time of 12:34:44, earning himself another coveted blue t-shirt, and Beth Scholes (taking part for Perth Tri Club), finished in 16:20:05. Impressive multi-disciplinary efforts from both!

The men's race was won by Christophe Martignier from Czechia in 10.25.36, and the women's race was won by Karianne Lancee from the Netherlands in 11.51.45.
