The Glen Lyon 50k and 25k races are put on by the same crew who organise the popular Glen Ogle 33 mile Ultra. The 50k Ultra comprises a loop of Loch Lyon followed by a climb over into Glen Lochay before climbing back over the hill and down into the finish in Glen Lyon. With a number of river crossings, wet feet are a given.
Thanks to Jonathon Marks for the following race report: 3rd Male in 4:12:20. The race started with a tail wind assisted run west down the north side of Loch Lyon before a bit of a slog back to the dam before popping over to Glen Lochay and back for the second half of the run. The route is very runnable under foot but my legs really felt the climb back out of Glen Lochay and I was very pleased the last few kilometres were downhill.
The race was won by Neil Lafferty in 4.00.03. There were 63 finishers.
