Strathearn Harriers - New Year's Day Run 2014

Strathearn Marathon

Race Date: 14 June 2026

The epic that is the Strathearn Marathon saw a healthy field take on the ups and downs of the 26.2 mile route, starting and finishing at Cultybraggan Camp, just outside Comrie. What it lacks in numbers it makes up for in quality, with the most scenic route, the friendliest marshals, the cutest squirrel medals and the best post-race scran.

This year's race was run in good conditions, and we were rewarded with a new women's record for Jennifer Whetton of Central AC. Jennifer has been a well-established name on the Scottish racing circuit for a number of years, and it was great to see her putting her stamp firmly on the race, not only with a new course record but also in finishing second overall. Her time of 2:58:22 obliterated the women’s course record by over 7 minutes.

First Harrier home was Ronan McDermott, in a time of 3:47:08 for 35th place overall. And not too far behind him was Isla Gallagher, completing her first marathon, and doing so in a great sub-4 hour time of 3:54:55 (and in 41st place overall, and 6th female).

The men's race was won by Andrew Kirk from Kirkintilloch Olympians taking first place in 2:53:26.
